Andrew Baird Matthews founded his Legal Firm in 1871 in Newton Stewart. This Firm carried on through the years with subsequent generations of the family becoming involved in the business together with other Partners and Solicitors.
As the Firm evolved, offices in Dumfries and Stranraer have opened, spreading the Firm over the entire length of the Region allowing for the provision of a personal service to clients no matter where they live in Dumfries & Galloway.
On 1st February 2006 the Firm reformed and has been renamed and restructured internally as A B & A Matthews LLP. Although A B & A Matthews LLP is a separate and distinct corporate identity, it’s roots can still be traced back to 1871.
